Treat yourself because you deserve it

Mums Off Duty, Treat Yourself

In these trying times, it’s very easy to put everyone else first. You’re looking after the kids, home-schooling, working from home, and trying to keep the house in order. However, please don’t forget that you need to take some time out to look after yourself too.

Geothermic wellness

There’s always a long list of wellness activities you could do to take care of your skin these days. Famous holy grails of wellness like the Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa in Iceland is a great place to unwind, be pampered and get away from it all.

While it’s clearly impossible to get there at the moment, the next best thing is to order some of their skin care products online and create your own spa at home! Then promise yourself a trip there one day, to experience it for real.

Cook yourself your favourite meal

Restaurants are closed and takeaways are limited, so you’re having to do all of the cooking and are getting fed-up of whatever the kids want to eat.

Think of the meal that you would most want to eat right now, and try to replicate it. You never know, it may end up being better than the original! Get the kids fed and then after they’ve gone to bed, tuck in to your favourite meal in peace and quiet.

Give yourself an hour of online shopping

So, you can’t browse the stores anymore or do any window shopping. There’s no reason why you can’t get your retail therapy fix and shop online though.

Shut yourself away with your laptop and a glass of wine for an hour, and shop away. Chatting to a friend on Skype or FaceTime at the same time can make it an even more enjoyable experience. Just try not to go too mad with the credit card!

After the kids go to bed, have a TV or movie marathon

Once the kids have gone to bed, and you can finally turn off the cartoons, why not have a movie marathon, or binge on a boxset.

Find a couple of films that you have been meaning to see and just watch them one after the other (if you can stay awake!), or finally see that TV show that everyone is talking about. This will help you relax and switch off, and be an enjoyable evening.

Early morning yoga session at home

You are up early and everyone else is still asleep, so make the most of the peace and quiet, while it lasts, by doing a home yoga session.

Simply set up a mat in your house, or in the garden, and do some yoga stretches and take the time to enjoy the silence. It’ll not only relax your mind, but will help your body to feel ready for the day ahead.

So, try some of these ideas for yourself, and remember that you need taking care of just as much as your family does!
