Review: Hillman’s Burger Co. in Hitchin

by Natalie

The hubby and I celebrated our son’s birthday with a burger at Hillman’s Burger Co. in Hitchin. The birthday boy was at nursery enjoying his ‘birthday circle’ and biscuits, and we felt like cheers-ing ourselves for making it through to four years *relatively* unscathed. Hubby loves a burger, and I was ready to eat anything (fast metabolism, basically always hungry). We’d never been to Hillman’s before so we decided to give it a whirl.

The restaurant was quiet as we were fairly early, so we had our pick of the tables. It’s a good sized space with a mixture of booths and tables. The decor is quite funky with bold, statement walls.

The menu is pretty extensive with a range of burgers, salads and sides. There are plenty of toppings to choose from. We both chose burgers, although there are also hot dogs which I was tempted by. The food took a little while to arrive but we didn’t mind – it’s always more relaxed without the boy to keep entertained!

The burgers were huge and I had to resort to cutlery to eat mine. Hubby thinks this is a bit weird but I’m just not a fan of messy fingers! The burgers come well done, are 100% meat, and are gluten-free. There was plenty of filling, and the salad was nice and fresh. The onion rings were good too.

There were some tasty-looking milkshakes on the menu which I didn’t try but may well do next time I visit!

There is a kids menu, and high chairs available, so it should be child-friendly if you’ve got the little ones in tow.

Overall, definitely worth a visit if you’ve got a hankering for a burger. Make sure you turn up hungry! Check out the website here.
