Brrr. October – and what feels like winter – has well and truly arrived. Did we skip autumn?
I always feel so much more carefree in summer. Everything feels lighter, and easier. Do you feel the same? As soon as the temperature drops, I find that daily life feels that little bit more difficult. Even leaving the house requires more effort as you wrestle with coats, scarves, gloves (one is usually missing), hats and boots.
Introducing October’s theme
For this reason, our theme for October is all about making your life a little bit easier.
School is now well underway (it’s nearly half-term, how did that happen?) and your new routine is in place. The school / work / babies / family / friends / everything else juggle is probably feeling very real right now. Although I believe that mums are the ultimate multi-taskers, sometimes something has to give.
Should we try to do it all?
I’m not sure we can do it all. Or even that we really should. Actually, it probably is possible to do it all, but I’m not sure how fulfilling life would be. What’s the point in living a life that you don’t get to enjoy? There’s no need to prove you’re Wonder Woman (you’re a mum, we know you are already).
The Guilt
If you decide the constant juggling act is just too much to handle without some help, you’ll probably then experience a big dose of The Mum Guilt. I think many of us feel guilty for not doing it all, like we’ve failed in some way.
We shouldn’t feel like that. It’s okay to accept help and support when we need it. I’m not sure, though, that we’ll ever completely banish The Mum Guilt. It seems to be an inherent part of being a mum. Is it possible to lessen those nagging feelings though?
Sharing ways to make your life a little bit easier
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing posts on ways that you can make the juggling act that is your life a little bit easier.
Some suggestions will cost money, others will be free.
I know for most of us, money is an issue. I recently wrote a post asking the question, ‘Could buying time make us happier?‘ For things that cost money, you need to weigh up the potential benefits for you, versus the cost. You may feel some things are absolutely worth it, others aren’t. What works for you and your family will be different to what works for others. There is no judgement here!
I hope you enjoy our October theme. This month, let’s set ourselves the challenge of trying to feel a little less guilty about, well, everything.
Good luck, and please let me know how you get on.

I love the sound of this theme for October. Definitely agree that we shouldn’t try and do it all – that way madness lies! #bloggerclubuk
So true Louise! I know I certainly couldn’t do it all, I would go crazy! Thank you for reading #BloggerClubUK
