BeauSynergy in Hatfield

When BeauSynergy, an advanced skincare clinic in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, invited me to try one of their bespoke medi-facials, I jumped at the chance.

I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t had a facial in about ten years. I even trained and worked as a spa therapist in my mid-twenties for a short while, so the shame runs even deeper as I know how important it is to look after your skin.

As busy mamas, it’s so easy to let your skincare routine slide. I cleanse and moisturise daily, and religiously apply coconut oil at night, but that’s about it.

I’ve only got a few years left before the big 4-0, and I’m becoming very conscious about preventing those fine lines and wrinkles. I figure now is the time to get my skincare sorted. I want to be confident that I’m giving my skin the best possible chance to look good for as long as possible.

Jacqui Bannister, Director and Senior Skincare Specialist

Enter Jacqui, Senior Skincare Specialist at BeauSynergy. Jacqui is so passionate about skincare and came across as a true expert in her field. With nearly a decade in the industry and trained in advanced skincare techniques, she really knows her stuff.

She’s seen and dealt with all different skin types and ethnicities. I’m Vietnamese so it’s really important that my therapist understands the specific characteristics of my skin type. Jacqui had really great knowledge of this and taught me a few things that will help me care better for my specific skin.

Consultation and in-depth skin analysis

After filling in an initial consultation form, our session began with an in-depth skin analysis using the Observ 520 scanner.

You rest your face inside the scanner and it takes a series of photos which highlights your various skin conditions such as congestion, oil, dry skin, excess dead skin, sun damage, and open pores. It’s slightly horrifying and fascinating at the same time! This step is really important though, as it allows your therapist to understand exactly what your skin needs and where your problematic areas are.

Jacqui also felt my skin to check its texture and firmness, which is an important part of skin analysis.

It is this level of detail that makes BeauSynergy quite unique. I’ve never had such an in-depth analysis of my skin before and I love that the resulting treatment is then tailored so personally for you.

Jacqui looked at what I was hoping to achieve for my skin (clarity and glow!), along with my skin analysis, and suggested I have the Alumier Radiant 30 bespoke treatment. This would very gently resurface my skin, encourage cell renewal and give me that glow I was after.

I would also have 20 minutes of Dermalux LED Light Therapy. This boosts hydration by 300%, restores radiance, balances oil production, stimulates collagen and elastin production, calms redness and irritation, and promotes healthy skin with a more even skin-tone. Phew, just a few benefits then!

My bespoke treatment – Alumier Radiant 30

First, Jacqui cleansed my skin and applied the Alumier Enzyme Retexturing Treatment, which contains natural fruit enzymes to exfoliate dead skin cells and promote healthy skin renewal. This felt slightly tingly and remained on my skin for just a few minutes.

Jacqui then applied a layer of the Alumier Radiant 30 peel solution. This is a gentle alpha hydroxyl acid which accelerates cell turnover, stimulates collagen and improves skin texture and tone. This step felt slightly prickly in some areas but completely bearable and again, lasted just a few minutes.

If you suffer from congestion around the nose area (a very common issue), this next step is great. Jacqui applied Detox Clear, a salicylic and lactic acid solution which penetrates into the pores dissolving excess sebum. Jacqui tells me that with a few treatments, large pores are minimised and blackheads will be reduced. Yes please!

Jacqui then neutralised the pH of my skin (a very important step) before popping me under the lamp for my LED Light Therapy. Although it is completely safe, I did have to wear goggles to protect my eyes. It’s lovely and warm under the lamp, and I imagined myself laying on a sun lounger in the Maldives. It felt lovely and I actually nearly went to sleep, oops!

Jacqui then blended a custom mask, personalised to my skin type, to brighten and hydrate my skin.

Finally, Jacqui applied Alumier serum and cream, along with an SPF40 sunscreen, and advised on my after-care.

The treatment itself took about 45 minutes, including the light therapy.

The results

I was impressed. My skin looked calmer, clearer, more even in skin-tone and was definitely glowing.  It also felt incredibly smooth. There was very slight flaking afterwards in a couple of areas, which is to be expected and shows it has worked. I was very happy with the result.

At this point for me, skincare is all about preventing lines and wrinkles before they occur. As you get older, your skin does need a little bit more help and some TLC. Jacqui advised getting a facial every 4-6 weeks if you can, but really anything is better than nothing!

This was not a regular spa facial. I’ve given plenty of spa facials before, and pampering facials are great if your main objective is to relax. However, if you want a facial that really produces results, this is the type of treatment you need, specifically targeted and personalised to your needs.

Jacqui said that she has clients that come from as far as Hampshire for these bespoke facials, and that says it all really!

I left with a lot more knowledge about my own skin and its specific needs, and with a renewed commitment to look after it.

This post was made for me Natalie, I’ve never had a facial (I know, shock, horror). I can’t even say that it’s because I’m a busy mama! This is a lovely review and not too far from me, plus your skin is absolutely glowing, looks great. #BloggerClubUK
