My review of MUMBOSS by Vicki Psarias

I’ve been meaning to write a review of MUMBOSS for absolutely ages and I am FINALLY sitting down to do it. I loved this book – like, really loved it – and I’m pretty sure you will too.

Vicki Psarias – aka Honest Mum

Author Vicki is the founder of Honest Mum, a UK lifestyle and parenting blog where Vicki creates fantastic content around all the things that she loves. The fact that she’s won a ton of blogger and vlogger awards is testament to her talent at sharing her story and inspiring others.

She was one of the first bloggers to share advice on how to blog professionally – and along the way, Vicki has inspired many others to share their voice as well.

Mums Off Duty, Mumboss

I’ve met Vicki a few times now, at blogging conferences and also at events she’s run in London. She is very honest, open and warm – basically Vicki is a lovely person. She loves to help others and I can see how writing a book was a very natural progression for her, as a way of sharing her expertise and experience.

MUMBOSS: A guide to surviving and thriving at work and at home

In MUMBOSS, Vicki is searingly honest (as you would expect from Honest Mum) about having children and how it affected her. She realised her previous career as a TV/film director just wasn’t going to work with young children, and that is something so many of us can relate to. MUMBOSS encourages you to find work, and a lifestyle, that suits you and your family. Alongside her own story, Vicki shares super helpful, practical advice to help you navigate your new life as mum.

Vicki shows you how she has managed to build a hugely successful career from blogging – and how blogging has been a springboard for so many more amazing work opportunities and collaborations, including live TV presenting – definitely not for me, but Vicki loves it!

The message of this book is that, if you really want it, you can turn your passion into a business that suits you and your family’s lifestyle. It’s not easy, and you will have to work hard, but it is possible.

Personally, I loved MUMBOSS. And I honestly don’t think it’s just because I’m a blogger. This isn’t a book just for bloggers – it’s a book designed to help ALL mums as we try to balance work and home life.

In the book, Vicki does write in detail about the digital world, and that obviously resonates a lot with me. But really what I love most is the message that you should try to find a way to do what you love. If your old career really isn’t compatible with your lifestyle now, then this book will give you the guidance and confidence you need to start making some important changes.

I’m just getting into reading fiction again – but more travel destination-themed stories

I used to read Vicki’s blog a lot. Her book sounds great and it’s good to hear that it’s not just from a bloggers point of view too, because I run a business from home, alongside blogging. Definitely going to add this to my list of books to buy (I’m a book-addict). Great post! 🙂

It’s a lovely review. When you find someone who inspires you, it’s great to get as much as you can from their teachings. I read more and more inspirational books and I’ve found it’s really helped me grow and rethink the way I do things.
